Originally published monthly in Aurora starting in November 1960, The Square is the best-known work by Choe In-hun (崔仁勳, b. 1936). Originally it was some 600 pages but it increased to 800 while it was published as a single volume and revised several times later on. From its first edition until 2010, Choe revised the novel ten times.
